What Is The Excel V Laser?

The Excel V laser is a new approach to treating vascular and benign pigmented skin conditions. With advanced technology, the excel V can safely and effectively treat unsightly facial and leg veins and a wide range of other vascular and benign pigmented conditions on men and women of all skin tones.

What Conditions Can The Excel V Laser Treat?

The Excel V laser has been shown to effectively treat a number of conditions including:

  •     Rosacea
  •     Spider veins
  •     Leg veins
  •     Portwine stains
  •     Cherry angiomas
  •     Benign brown spots eg sun spots, age spots
  •     Fine lines, pores and skin texture

The Excel V Laser may also have a cosmetic benefit for patients who have skin lesions or scars from past injuries or surgeries.

How Does The Excel V Laser Work?

Excel V treats vascular conditions by administering a unique high power green or infrared laser light that is absorbed by the abnormal blood vessels in the skin. The laser heats the abnormal vessels causing the vein walls to collapse and seal shut. Over time, the vessels will no longer be visible. Several treatments may be necessary to achieve the desired result.

The Excel V laser light can also be absorbed by abnormal skin pigments and can safely remove pigmented skin conditions. Using both laser lights together,  the Excel V can safely remove both vascular and pigmented conditions in the same setting.

How Is The Procedure Performed?

After an initial consultation, Dr Joyce lim will determine if the Excel V laser treatment is appropriate. Usually, no anesthesia is required. The laser uses a proprietary cooling mechanism during treatment. The laser light is targeted to the affected areas until the abnormal vessels diminish, the brown spots are lightened or the skin has a pink hue.  During treatment, you may experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of laser energy are delivered.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

The number of treatments depends on the skin condition. Some superficial vessels or brown spots may be cleared in a single treatment. Generally, several treatments are required.
